So very close to you
For they knew the pain and suffering
That you were going through
I thought about so many things
As I held tightly to your hand
Oh, how I wished that you were strong
And happy once again
But your eyes were looking homeward
To that place beyond the sky
Where dad has been waiting patiently
For the day, you would arrive
I struggled with my selfish thoughts
For I wanted you to stay
So we could walk and talk again
Like we did, just yesterday
But the pain was real and dad was waiting
And I knew you loved him so
So I gave you the greatest gift
The gift of letting go.

Funeral Notice – A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Verna Mavis Freeland will be held at the Cobram Uniting Church, 4 Hay Ave, Cobram on Friday 10th March 2023, commencing at 11.00am. The cortege will then proceed to the Cobram Cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Cobram East.
